Socialist Resistance, the ecosocialist magazine in Britain, has relaunched itself as the British section of the Fourth International, the worldwide socialist organisation. A national conference on July 4 completed a regroupment process begun a year earlier. The International Socialist Group has dissolved into the new organisation.
The new Socialist Resistance adopted an expanded political basis and a constitutional framework which introduces a national committee, delegate-based conference and numerous democratic safeguards. All SR supporters and ISG members are part of the new organisation, as are a number of new activists.
The incoming national committee will take a discussion at its first meeting on developing a prioritised campaign of solidarity with Palestine, including a seminar planned for the last weekend in November.
The new organisation has immediately opened a literary discussion on the documents for the next world congress of the Fourth International. A national meeting is planned to decide the organisation’s positions on the documents and elect delegates.
