Unite Against Fascism Festival in Harrow

UAF The Festival of Unity is THIS SATURDAY from 7.00 pm at the Victoria Hall in Sheepcote Rd. while we have an impressive line up of speakers and performers and have already distributed well over half the five thousand cards that were delivered on Friday. They have been taken to Harrow College for distribution via the NUS within the college and to Brunel and University of Westminster, to the bus garages for distribution through the UNITE branches, Harrow delivery office for distribution via the CWU rep,  Harrow UNISON office, College of NW London for distribution through the UCU to all three sites, some have been delivered door to door in the area recently targeted by the BNP and of course we gave out a lot in Harrow Town Centre on Saturday. However, we still URGENTLY need:

  • Help with further distribution - Sarah is planning to leaflet Stanmore College tomorrow, WEDNESDAY, lunchtime from 12 noon and Sarah and Alf will be leafleting Harrow-on-the-Hill station on Wednesday from 4.00 pm. Sarah will be leafleting Harrow Central Mosque on Friday from 1.30 pm and there will be another stall in Harrow Town Centre on Saturday from 2.30 pm .
  • RAFFLE PRIZES we have the promise of prizes from UAF but so far no other offers
  • MONEY this event is costing about £600. So far we have had a response from Brent Trades council which will probably agree a donation at its November meeting. Harrow NUT is considering donating at its meeting on November 26th. Meanwhile a couple of UAF supporters are paying for everything out of their own pockets, so please approach you Union branch/district/region or any other organisation you may be a member of as appropriate to ask for a donation. A begging letter is attached.
