This year Socialist Resistance aims to raise £4000 to subsidise the costs of two important projects.

First, to help young people from Britain who want to attend the next International Youth Camp, which will take place in France in July 2011. With the huge upsurge in activity by school students and students revolting against the Condem cuts, we think we can take a substantial delegation from Britain this time. But we know that most of the young people interested in revolutionary ideas wont be able to cover all the cost of the journey and their stay themselves. We need support from others to make this happen.

Second to help recoup the expenditure we have laid out in 2010 to finance Hugo Blanco’s tour of Britain. Veteran Peruvian ecosocialist Hugo Blanco came to Europe in autumn 2010 for a two month tour organised in Britain by Socialist Resistance and Green Left. He spoke at meetings in 10 cities and towns in Britain and addressed over 2000 people in all and also visited France, Spain and Austria.

The tour cost Socialist Resistance around £3000 more than we recouped through collections during the tour itself. Part of this was because the tour also had the aim of raising money for the publication Lucha Indigena (www.luchaindigena.org) which Hugo edits in Peru and he was able to go home with more than £1200 – money which will go much further in Peru than it would here. We also wish to be able to fund a translation of Hugo’s most recent book from Spanish which will cost £500.
