A public meeting against Trump’s visit in July with: Chris Williamson MP, Mark Serwotka (General Secretary, PCS union) & Huda Elmi (Young Labour & Momentum activist).
Trump has brought the world to the brink of war between the great powers.
With one of the most reactionary presidents in US history stoking endless, bloody conflict in Syria, taking a wrecking ball to the Iran nuclear deal, and offering unconditional support to Israel’s massacre in Gaza, is now the moment to call time on the ‘special relationship’?
This public meeting brings together leading figures in the antiwar movement to discuss this question. We’ll consider the deep history of Britain’s links to US military power – as well as the weaknesses in that armoury and the British establishment’s Faustian pact with it.
With Trump officially coming to Britain for the first time since taking office this July, and Theresa May determined to double down on her allegiance to an increasingly isolated president, there couldn’t be a better time to ask what a radically different foreign policy might look like…
A foreign policy free from the poison of racism and sexism. A foreign policy in the interests of people, not arms companies and the corporate benefactors of shock doctrine strategies. A foreign policy that recognises that justice at home can’t be separated from justice worldwide.
Come and join the discussion!
