Making Rewilding Part of a Socialist Future

Rewilding theory allows us to appreciate that landscape change is what happens without human intervention. Preventing landscape change requires human input, should be thought through, and should appreciate that there is a large labour and energy cost required to keep it this way.

We are well into a mass extinction event, it is accelerating and unlike previous such events it is driven by human action upon the natural world.However, he is clear that the devastation caused by human beings can be reversed by human beings and he puts forward a few broad-brush solutions.

Support China’s ban on its wildlife trade

Ecosocialists should oppose this trade whenever and wherever it is found. This is not just because it opens the door to dangerous pathogens but because it stands in direct contradiction to the new relationship between human beings and nature that is central to the future of this planet as a liveable space.
